High End DJ’s vs Budget DJ’s

If you are planning a wedding and looking for some guidance on what is the “right price”  for entertainment then this blog post is for you!  It’s one thing to hear it from us,  but it’s an entirely different thing when a wedding planner goes out of their way to say that you should splurge on the entertainment as well

I’d like to quote the video blog below and say “If music is a priority for your wedding GO BIG OR GO HOME with DJ services”.  . Your wedding DJ has a responsibility to rock your reception.  This is only going to happen if the DJ you hire is the true professional you need them to be.  Unfortunately, you won’t be able to know for sure from a quote sheet alone. We aren’t saying that the quote shouldn’t be considered in the final decision, but if one company is charging $500 and another is charging $1500 there might be a reason  and you will only  realize when it’s too late.

There are a few key points she brings up when she talks about High End DJ’s vs Low End DJ’s she’s worked with.

High-End DJ’s

  • They are professional
  • They are on time
  • They are prepared
  • They play great music and keep the dance floor FULL!
  • They MIX – you would not believe the number of DJ’s that don’t.  We thought this was a requirement to be a DJ!

LOW-END DJ’s

  • Not professional
  • Hard to get ahold of
  • Not prepared
  • Show up late

Another important point on pricing is that we are conditioned by our surroundings to price shop so it’s not your fault!  We are constantly comparing products, pricing,  sales, coupons, deals, to get and blah blah blah…  There’s an old saying that you get what you pay for and while it’s less true with produce at the grocery store it is most positively true (in most cases) with DJ’s.  For the brides that can’t swing for the fences on entertainment because of budget then I honestly stand by her advice in the video and would suggest and iPod/iPad and a friend to play the music.  The harsh truth is that if you closed your eyes you might be able to tell the difference between the friend with a playlist and the low- end DJ (The one that can’t mix)We’ve worked with a handful of great wedding planners and coordinators in the area and they echo a lot of the same things in the video.  If you are getting married in Buffalo or the surrounding areas and feel like the music is a big deal for your wedding then don’t forget to contact SoundWave for a great wedding DJ.
